Telstra Modem Login

Telstra devices use a web-based admin panel for configuration. Common default credentials are listed below. This page also includes troubleshooting tips if the login page does not load.

Telstra routers provide a user-friendly interface for managing network settings, including Wi-Fi and admin passwords. The default login IP is commonly 10.0.0.138, but other IPs may be used depending on the modem model. Telstra Smart Modems have unique password requirements based on their generation.

Telstra routers are tailored for Australian users, with firmware updates managed directly by Telstra. Unlike other brands, Telstra Smart Modems Gen 3 use the Wi-Fi password as the default admin password, enhancing security.

Log in to your Telstra modem

    Open the Telstra web interface at 10.0.0.138 or 192.168.0.1 or 192.166.0.1.

    Open a browser and type in the correct IP address or URL for your modem. For nbn™/ADSL/Velocity/Cable modems with an adapter – enter http://10.0.0.138 or http://telstra.gateway/ For Cable modems without adapter – enter http://192.166.0.1 or http://telstra.gateway/ For Telstra Gateway Frontier®/Telstra Smart Modem – enter http://192.168.0.1 or http://mygateway/

    Enter the default Username and Password and click Login. The username is admin and the password is Telstra for Telstra Smart Modem 1.1 and Gen 2. For Telstra Smart Modem Gen 3, the password is the same as the Wi-Fi password located at the bottom of your modem.

    You will be logged in to Telstra Gateway.

Change the Wi-Fi password on Telstra

    Sign in to the Telstra Gateway control panel.

  2. 02

    Choose 'Wi-Fi' from the top menu on the home screen.

  3. 03

    Under 'Wi-Fi Network settings', enter the new Wi-Fi password in the 'Network Key' field.

    Click 'Save' to apply the changes.

Change the Wi-Fi name on Telstra

    Sign in to the Telstra Gateway control panel.

    Choose 'Wi-Fi' from the top menu on the home screen.

    Under 'Wi-Fi Network settings', enter the new Wi-Fi name in the 'Network Name' field.

    Click 'Save' to apply the changes.

Factory reset this Telstra

    Locate the reset button on the back of the Telstra modem.

    Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds using a paperclip or similar tool.

    Wait for the modem to reboot and restore factory settings.

Change the admin password on Telstra

    Sign in to the Telstra Gateway control panel.

    Navigate to 'Admin Settings' (exact location may vary by model).

    Enter the current admin password.

    Enter the new admin password and confirm it.
