// address bar

Address bar

http://Setup.zyxel

  1. Use the browser address bar. A search box will look up Setup.zyxel on the public internet and miss the router.
  2. Type http://Setup.zyxel with no www and no https. You must be joined to this router's Wi-Fi.
  3. If the name does not open, use the numeric address 192.168.1.1 instead.
  • Do not search for Setup.zyxel

    Typing Setup.zyxel into a search engine will not work. You must enter it directly into the browser's address bar.

  • Do not use HTTPS

    Setup.zyxel only works with HTTP (http://setup.zyxel). Using HTTPS (https://setup.zyxel) will result in an error.

  • Do not add www

    Setup.zyxel does not support www prefixes. Typing www.setup.zyxel will not resolve correctly.

What is Setup.zyxel?

// briefing

Setup.zyxel is a local web address that gives you access to the admin panel of your ZyXEL router. This address only works when you are connected to the router's network — it does not resolve on the public internet.

Compared to a numeric IP address, Setup.zyxel is easier to remember and is provided by the manufacturer as a convenient alternative for accessing the settings page.

If Setup.zyxel does not resolve in your browser, you can use the numeric fallback address 192.168.1.1 instead. Both lead to the same admin interface.

This hostname is specific to ZyXEL devices. Other manufacturers use different addresses — check the sticker on your router for the correct URL.

The default login credentials for devices accessible via Setup.zyxel are typically username admin and password 1234.
